DataMotion can be integrated into Apple’s MacMail in two steps.
- Create a new MacMail E-Mail Account
- Add the POP3 and SMTP settings to this new account
This step-by-step guide provides instructions for doing so.
Create a New MacMail E-Mail Account
MacMail gives you the ability to add multiple email accounts to be used in a single MacMail application. You may already have an account added to MacMail (ie: your company email address), but these steps will take you through adding a new account that is solely configured to send and receive DataMotion messages.
- To add an account to MacMail, first open the Mail app
- On the top navigation bar, select Mail then choose Preferences… from the drop-down menu (or push CMD + ,)
This will bring up the Internet Account pop-up where you can add or remove email accounts.
- Select the + button on the bottom left-hand corner of the pop-up to add a new account.
- Select the radio button next to Other Mail Account… and then click the newly activated Continue button.
- On the Add a Mail Account pop-up, enter your Full Name, DataMotion Address and Password then click Sign in.
Add POP3 and SMTP Settings
POP3 is what allows you to retrieve/download incoming messages, and SMTP is what allows you to send new messages. The Mail app will require more information and bring you to a pop-up with advance options that you will have to set to enable your account to send and receive DataMotion messages.
- Make the following changes to the advanced options, and then select Sign In
- Account Type: POP
- Incoming mail server: ssl.datamotion.com
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.datamotion.com
- Once you have signed in, an Account pop-up will appear. Select the Account Information tab
- Select the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down menu and choose “Edit SMTP Server List…”
- A new pop-up will appear. Select the Advanced tab and make the following changes then click OK.
- Port: 587
- Use SSL: Make sure this option is checked
- Austhentication: External (TLS client Certificate)
- Back in the Accounts pop-up, choose the Advanced Tab and make the following changes then click OK.
- Port: 995
- Use SSL: Make sure this option is checked
